Stockholm is the capital of Sweden, and also the largest city, including the most populated area in Scandinavia. It houses the Swedish government, the Reichstag (parliament) and is also the official residence of the Swedish King and the Prime Minister. Stockholm was founded in 1250 and since then has been in Sweden, culture, media, political and economic center. Stockholm has been named as a global city with a ranking of Alpha, in 2008 Global Cities Index ranks 24 in Stockholm, Swedenthe world, 10 in Europe, and the first in Scandinavia. Stockholm has been dubbed the Venice of the North, with its large and open waters c lean and numerous parks.
