Her songs and her voice touch and move us with timeless depth of emotion and wisdom. Her presence radiates strength of spirit and charisma. She is singer, conductor and show master, rolled into one. She is an entertainer who truly lives her art, nourished by its strong heart roots. Ruh el Fuad was born in 1946 to a family of farmers from the Nile Delta. As a young girl recognized for her talent, she was invited to sing at traditional weddings and parties in the surrounding villages. She moved on the perform for the lower and middle classes in larger towns and cities such as Tanta, Alexandria and Cairo. Later, she worked with famous nightclub performers in the five star hotels, at the weddings and parties of the upper echelons of Egyptian society. Her art took her to other Arab countries, and later even Europe. In the course of her long career she has performed with most of the great Baladi musicians, gaining their respect with her expertise. Ruh el Fuad’s professional life spans half a century, and reflects an era when art on the popular circuit performed their music and dance all over Egypt.
