Anime Boys’ Tribute_The Cumberland’s Crew

March 31st, 2011 Posted in Art History

This is a song sung by the Cumberland Three called “The Cumberland’s Crew,” which is based off the battle between the USS Cumberland and the CSS Virginia, also known as the Merrimac, on March 8, 1862 at Hampton Roads. Now, let it be known, as with all the historical crossover clips I do, this was created for the sake of art, song, and a way of commemoration. I had no intention of showing any insult to this very important and well praised period of history. I have had this problem before with earlier posts from those who hate the anime genre and despise me for supposedly bastardizing a very epic event of the past. I can assure you that I don’t do these period piece crossovers out of spite, or as a light hearted gesture of simple entertainment. I only intend to have those, who understand the anime world, but not much on history, be able to relate better when seeing familiar characters reenacting important historical events. Therefore, I ask that no negative or insulting comments be given in response. I do apologize for any such offenses I have made and wish for you to grant mercy. Also, because this piece takes place during the American Civil War, I would also like to be clear that I am not depicting either side as being the protagonist or the antagonists. I am simply viewing the battle through the eyes of the men who fought it. So once again, please don’t misunderstand my intentions, and I hope that you enjoy this piece for its time, effort, and epic realism. Sincere
